Welcome to the wonderful world of Exile III: Ruined World! You now
have access to days, weeks, or even months of role-playing adventure!

towns and dungeon levels.
Should you run into any trouble playing Exile III, don't hesitate to E-mail its
author, Jeff Vogel, at SpidWeb@aol.com. You can always find plenty of
information at Spiderweb Software, Inc.'s web site: http://www.spidweb.com.
Version 1.0.1 note: Holding down space while launching the game can make the
game more stable, and speed it up as well. If you have speed or crashing problems,
be sure to try it.
>>> Troubleshooting <<<
Should you experience trouble with Exile III: Ruined World crashing, or with
odd behavior such as static in sounds or graphics, contact the author at
the address above. First, however, there are several ways you might be
able to make the problem go away.
1. If you are using background music, turn it off. If any other programs were
running, quite them, quit Exile III, restart, and run Exile III.
2. Give Exile III more memory. From the Finder, click on Exile III and then hit
Command-I. Increase the numbers in the lower right hand corner of the
window that comes up.
3. Play Exile III without extensions running. To do this, Restart your Mac, and
hold the shift key down while it boots up.
4. If the Exile III Editor was running while Exile III was running, this can cause
problems. Quite both programs, and run the game.
5. If the game crashes while starting, run the program with the space key held down. This omits the opening fade, and makes the program more stable overall.
6. If you are using the Control Panel YesNoCancel, turn it off. There is a known incompatability between it and Exile III.
If none of these things help, please let me know! If there are any bugs left, I
want to squish them! Typo reports are welcome too!
>>> Answers to common questions <<<
1. How do I attack someone?
Just move into them. Note that, in town, you have to enter combat mode
first. Click on the sword button to do this.
2. How do I equip an item?
Type the number of the PC with the item to bring you to that PC's
item page. Click on the name of the item.
3. I can't figure out talking to people!
Talk to someone (type 't' and click on the person). Click on the '?' button at the upper right corner of the talking area.
4. Sometimes I'm told my mage is too encumbered to cast spells, and
sometimes I'm not. Why?
You can only cast mage spells when your encumbrance is 1 or less.
However, Defense skill counteracts this. If your encumbrance is 2 or 3 and
your defense skill is high, you might occasionally get away with casting a spell.
5. I'm getting diseased all the time, and I don't know why!
Perhaps you should identify everything in your inventory. Something
might be harming you.
6. The game crashes on lauching. What do I do?
Run the game with the space bar held down. This should help.
